May 24, 2007 Media Contact: (703) 697-5131/697-5132 Public/Industry(703) 428-0711 DoD Identifies Army Casualties The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.They died May 22 in Taji, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near their unit.They were assigned to the 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash. Killed were: Staff Sgt. Kristopher A. Higdon, 25, of Odessa, Texas. Pfc. Robert A. Worthington, 19, of Jackson, Ga.
