May 24, 2007 Media Contact: (703) 697-5131/697-5132 Public/Industry(703) 428-0711 DoD Identifies Army Casualty The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sgt. Robert J. Montgomery Jr., 29, of Scottsburg, Ind.,died May 22, in Al Jabour, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit.He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.
