May 21, 2007 Media Contact: (703) 697-5131/697-5132 Public/Industry(703) 428-0711 DoD Identifies Army Casualty The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sgt. Ryan J. Baum, 27, of Aurora, Colo., died May 18, in Karmah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire.Baum was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.
