Here's a bit about him from the Jackson, MS paper:

Evans, 31, a Mississippi State graduate, was serving his second stint in Iraq after also having served from November 2003 through May 2004. He enlisted in the Air Force in 2001 and was promoted to captain in November 2005.

"I still remember when he was around 12 or 13 in 4-H club projects, and he always talked about he wanted to be a pilot in the Air Force," recalled Margaret Evans [his mother]. * * *

Evans is survived by his wife, Pernetha, and a 1-year-old son, Kermit Jr., who live in Las Vegas.

"Right now, his wife is thinking about letting his final resting place be in Arlington (National Cemetery) since he is a captain," said Margaret Evans.

So it goes.
