April 13, 2007 Media Contact: (703) 697-5131/697-5132 Public/Industry(703) 428-0711 DoD Identifies Army Casualties The Department of Defense announced today the death of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died Apr. 9 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle. They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo. Killed were: Spc. Ismael G. Solorio, 21, of San Luis, Ariz. Pfc. Brian L. Holden, 20, of Claremont, N.C. Pvt. Brett A. Walton, 37, of Hillsboro, Ore. As dad to PFC Brian L Holden. My wife and I send our thoughts and prayers to the families of SPC Ismael Solorio and Pvt Brett Walton. We have been praying for our sons and their fellow soldiers. My wife has taken all the money collected from coworkers and churches to purchase phone cards in honor of our son Brian to send back to the 2-17 in Iraq. A note attached will say call your mothers. |
